Acute Care of The Burned Hand


Abstract
The burned hand produce serious aesthetic and functional problem, hypertrophic scar, scar contracture, syndactyly, and deformity etc.
From jun. 1991 to june. 1995, the patients with second degree burn of hand were admitted and treated by local wound dressing, local wound dressing and skin graft. Among them, 78 patients who were followed up more than 6 months were reviewed,
retrospectively.
@ES The results in this study were as follows;
@EN 1. Superficial second degree burn of hand were well healed by early, massive hand motion and local dressing without other problems.
2. Deep second degree burn of hand with early excision and skin graft were revealed scar contracture(18%), hypertrophic scar formation(18%), but not other hand deformities.
3. Deep second degree burn of hand with local dressing and delayed operation were increased incidence of hand deformities.
4. Third. Fourth degree burn of hand with injured tendon, joint, bone were revealed extension deformity(more than 50%), flexion deformity (more than 50%). Key Words: burn of hand, hand motion, early excision.
